Hello everyone,

Hope you are staying positive and testing negative! :D

Well, I’m quite sure that many of us might have come across the viral post of HSBC manager’s heart attack and this being a wake-up call on overwork culture. Clearly, I’m no pundit on such health issues but here is something I’d like to share in regards to how we perceive stress.

So, when you are stressed out, some of the most common signs would be; your heart pounding, breathing faster, and even sweating. Right? So, we interpret these bodily signals as anxiety, we having trouble dealing with pressure, and what not.

But let’s make a change in our mindset about it today.

A research study, conducted by Harvard University, said when stress takers were taught to rethink their stress response as helpful, it rendered health benefits. That pounding heart is preparing you for action! If you’re breathing faster, its okay. It’s getting more oxygen to your brain. AND even steer your cardiovascular profile away from the risks of heart attack to a great extent! Now, I won’t dive into the science of it, let’s just focus on the behaviour.

Well, I’m not saying that if this was the perspective of Mr. Jonny Frostick, he would have been in control of his heart’s health, simply because we know what a banker of his standing has to manage. However, if we develop this outlook, we can create the chance of living healthier lives in our own capacities.

So, whenever you become anxious in future, just remember this nugget and think that your body is helping you rise to the occasion and meet the challenge. And when you view stress with that lens, your body BELIEVES you and your stress response becomes healthier!!

Phenomenal, what a shift in the mindset can do! Isn’t it?

So, let’s befriend stress, happy thoughts only, and more power to you guys!

Stay safe and take care :)
